[NMLUG] [NMOSUG-L] Cheap power supply replacement in town?
Last time I had a PS go bad, it started cooking off components at random
-- a hard drive... a DVD writer... a DIMM.... "it was ugly" was an
understatement. I still have that machine setting over to the side, but
I don't know that anything is stable enough to be reusable.
Anyway, when I replaced the machine, I spent $100.00 of a $600.00 budget
on the PS alone. Loosing my main desktop was more expensive than a
$100.00 power supply.
that said, you could do the PS yourself, probably, but it might be worth
$40.00 if you're not comfortable banging around inside your case. it's
really simple, provided you get the right PS with the right connectors.
