[NMLUG] Mandriva 2007 not ready for prime time

I've been using Mandriva 2006 and have been looking forward to the
2007 upgrade with the newer kernel. To date you can upgrade a Mandriva
release online EXCEPT for the kernel.
In August Mandriva 2007 Beta 2 (Odin) came out. An entire distro is a
bit much for me to download with my limited satellite broadband, so I
looked to order it. Found it at linuxonline.biz. (Los Angeles) on DVD
and bought a copy.
No sooner had I done that than Mandriva released Beta 3 (Tyr). I
searched around to buy a copy and found one at linuxcd.org (France).
EBay sellers aren't very quick about getting new releases out.
No sooner had I done that than Mandriva released RC1. This time I've
decided to wait it out. Anyhow I tried upgrading a clone copy of my
Mandriva 2006 HDD with 2007b2 and it totally messed it up. So I'll
wait for the final release, and probably get the PowerPack.

PS: Maya runs great on Mandriva. You CGI artists know what I mean.
