Exactly- which brings us to part two of the equation- Live near where
you work, consume local products, use alternative transportation.
And complain to your elected officials- The prius and similar are pure
bullshit- vehicles with comparable fuel efficiency were available for a
small fraction of the price in the 1980s. Current technology can produce
cars which are insanely fuel efficient- VW manufactured a roadworthy
two-seater prototype (the Lupo 1L in 2003 which got over 240 MPG. Other
vehicles in current production also get fantastic fuel mileage but are
not available in the USA because the EPA regs are tailored to exclude
them (you can't buy a Lupo which gets 100+ mpg, but you can buy a piece
of shit Hummer.)
