[NMLUG] Qwest/MSN?

I have a friend who's experimenting with Linspire and is thinking about taking advantage of Qwest's $26.99/month DSL promotion w/MSN as the ISP. Does anyone have this service up and running w/Linux? We're pretty sure he could get online w/out a problem but we're not so sure if we'd be able to set up and use an e-mail client like Thunderbird. It seems like it should be possible but neither of us are experts and you never know with MSN.
