[NMLUG] Upgrading to new distro

  • Subject: [NMLUG] Upgrading to new distro

Hi, all-

As the world's oldest noob, I have a question to pose-

My PC currently runs a horribly outdated distro, Mandrake 8.2. I would
like to upgrade to the current Mepis distro. I have a fair amount of
data on my drive which I need to protect (business records, documents,
etc) and also my Mozilla configuration, e-mail addresses, e-mails,
bookmarks, etc. The new Mepis does not use the Mozilla internet suite as
my current set-up does, it uses Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird instead.

OK, so I can back up my business records, etc. But what about the
Mozilla configuration files, addressbook, e-mails, etc? Are they
compatible with the new Firefox and Thunderbird, or do I have to jump
through hoops to migrate the data? What procedure should I follow to get
this stuff working with the new Mozilla and T-Bird?
