I must have offended you. I apologize for that. It wasn't my intent.

The CD is at http://www.sysresccd.org. I understand that with low
bandwidth it could take some time to download. If you care to email
me your snail mail address off list, I will send you a copy to try
out - with the understanding that it is not likely as wiz-bang
efficient as the commercial products we've discussed might be (That's
where my reference to brain cells came in - there's some cerebral
sweat investment to deal with, as with most of these kinds of free
tools. They're meant for power users who need to deal with a large
spread of different situations, so they don't even try to anticipate
your situation. As a result you get a high level of flexibility while
giving up some "efficiency" if that's how you choose to view it).

Defining a new swap partition and "mkswap /dev/hda3; swapon /dev/hda3;
isn't a step most Linux users need help with, after they get they're
feet in the proverbial water.

In the quest for the most efficient disk cloning tool, keep in mind
that every decision the tool makes for you is a cost in flexibility
and freedom. Now, if you know for a fact that you don't ever need to
spread swap across different slices of a 7 disk SCSI array, then you
don't lose anything - but on the day you do - the tool becomes
useless. Couple that with the cost (in dollars, time, whatever) of
the tool - and you can make your decision.

I always opt for the flexible tool that costs me nothing but time and
brain sweat. That's my choice, and I understand that you aren't me -
no problem. I also like promoting free and open source solutions in a
Linux User Group, when it seems appropriate. I've done that.

PS: I take my oil to Autozone, thanks for asking. :)
