I think the situation is vastly misunderstood. Ubuntu stays periodically
synchronized to Debian. In IMO, there isn't much truth to the "pulling
developers away" bit--many Ubuntu developers are also Debian developers.
(But like everything new, it's a hot topic on the debian-devel list. ;)
Just to be clear, I don't see Ubuntu as a replacement for Debian releases,
but as a Debian-based alternative release and support structure. Even if
Debian releaseed a stable every 6 months, Ubuntu still has a niche. =)
