Ubuntu works fine on my AMD64 system here, as does Debian. EM64T is just
basically just Intel's name of AMD64 because, well, it would be silly for
them to call it AMD64.
Keep in mind that Linux hardware support isn't as good yet for x86_64 as it
is for x86; for instance, for my on-board network card I had to patch the
kernel with updated drivers, as the distributed sk98lin module didn't
support my ethernet card. This will be pretty universally true regardless
of what GNU/Linux distribution you use, but will hopefully improve quickly.
