[NMLUG] Alsa volumes being set to 0 (zero)

  • Subject: [NMLUG] Alsa volumes being set to 0 (zero)
  • From: havoc at harrisdev.com (havoc)
  • Date: Fri Jan 14 14:05:50 2005

System: SUSE Linux 9.2 Pro
Subsystem: ALSA

For some reason, the volumes for ALSA are being set to 0 across the
board on my sound subsystem. I haven't localized the culprit, but I'm
open to suggestions. Root privileges are not required.

To reset the volumes, I have been entering YaST, and setting them back
to something useful.

When I attempted to chmod /etc/asound.state, I get:
chmod: changing permissions of `/etc/asound.state': Operation not permitted

any thoughts? suggestions?

thanks.
