I have used ssmtp for sending only. It's easy to configure, too. It
doesn't queue messages during temporary outages, though. (I have a
qmail server as a mail relay on my LAN, so as long as it's up, my mail
works). Failed messages get dropped into the ~/ of the user in a
dead.letter file.
