Downloaded it and tried it. I love the way the Debian is such a great
distro it spawns other useful (and not so useful) varieties, unlike
Gentoo (my current). Gentoo only has 2 or 3 branches and their users are
spiteful of another distros that (*GASP*) uses *their* builds, *their*
forums & *their* resources.
In fact, after trudging through Gentoo's 2 day install - twice - I found
that Vidalinux is all the Gentoo without all the install. It's a very
quick stage 3 installation (mostly binaries), requiring about an hour of
install time. No, it's not perfect, but once you tweak it (and get over
the stupidity of Gentoo's etc-update), it's beautiful. Of course, you're
required to have the high pain threshhold required of compiling your own
apps (it's really easy, but time consuming).
I liked it so much, I actually purchased VLOS 1.0 with built-in Gnome
2.6, Kernel 2.6.8, Firefox .9.x, Flash, Acroread and Java run time.
They're up to VLOS 1.1 which includes KDE 3.new.
Sorry about hijacking your thread... Hee hee, another broken New Year's
resolution.
