[NMLUG] keyboard problem

i am having problems in mandrake 10.0 with kde 3.2 and have no way of being able to use the number pad on the right side to type numbers but will move the mouse when you press the arrows on those keys. at one time for a day it did type the numbers on that pad but that was it and did not do it after that. i have checked the numlock to make sure it was on, checked in control panel for the keyboard but it doesnt give you any options on it but (us keyboard) and (us keyboard international). if anyone can give me some guidence in figuring out the problem i would appreciate it.
