[NMLUG] finding "near" fast DNS servers
Other than a non-accessible DNS, how slow could your DNS be?????
They just receive a query and send a simple reply, if they can't respond, the
DNS will ask a hierarchical arrangement of master DNSes to find the owner of
the domain you are requesting. So even if you run your own DNS, you still
will have to go out onto the internet to get any domain not hosted by your
DNS.
Bind is a sweet and simple DNS to set-up, just one hint, put it in a sandbox
or jail. ;)
