[NMLUG] big disks



True, older controllers cannot handle sizes > 137G. (I'm not sure of the
mechanism involved). The 160G "drive" is really 160 billion bytes and df
reports GB (that's 1024^3; or 1024*1024*1024 = 1GB; whereas 1 billion
bytes is 1000*1000*1000). I think conner started that some 10 years ago
(first that I noticed it, anyway) to make thier disks look bigger than
those of the competition. Shame. Eventually, all manufacturers adopted
the billion as GB, So, a 160G disk is really 153GB (real).
