Is it possible to play the stream in some Free Software player instead
of Real's? I'm not sure if this is always the case but for my personal
use I've always been able to play any audio stream in xmms and rhythmbox
(gxine too when I tried which has a nice menu specifically for that)
Though I do recall at one time I had installed RealOne or some such
monstrosity to get it's codec and then the Real stuff worked in other
players (that may have been a video thing?)
Anyway these days with the marillat debian repo:

deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ unstable main

I can't think of the last time there was a stream or file that wouldn't
play in my free tools.
