Poking around TechTV they mentioned that it takes about 1/2 Million packets of "interesting traffic" to crack WEP. 
They recommended (for home users that don't move a lot of data) to generate a new WEP key every week or two.

No. Tools such as Kismet will listen to the packets and a) notice a stealthed
network, and b) attempt to destealth it. It's more trouble than it's worth.
