somewhat...  but more geared toward building from source.

Frankly, Gentoo's "portage" is even better than BSD ports
(but is still quite similar to BSD ports).
It the project has critical mass, you may want to take a
look at Gentoo.    I wonder of Dan's entrance to the "real" world
has crippled Gentoo?
