Greg,
it ain't your stuff man!!
ComCast has been making changes and doing all kinds of upgrade stuff
that seems to break connectivity, DNS and link, on a random basis....I
notice very early AM and sometimes mid day issues. Seems Most of the
outages are not too long but they do break connectivity and network apps
don't much like operating during the events! I've noticed a lot of
outages, more lately than in the past 3+ years..(could be my location)
west side of ALbuq. But for the most part having things cached and
running my own DNS keeps things relatively stable on my end even if the
connection dies......perhaps redundancy is a little weak in my area?
I've also had the modem receive bad code or broken updates that has
taken the service out for as long as 2 days before the right tech is on
the phone and the light bulb goes on. They send the modem a fixed code
update and magic!!(and I can't even say "told ya so" cause I'm just an
ignorant customer).
Great (when it works without a hitch), mostly dependable service and
they listen to their customers....almost like the telephone company!
Talk to me off line......

Are any of you comcast cable subscribers experiencing intermittent
drops
in your connection? I'm not alone according to the comcast customer
forums who also have been getting frequent interuptions that last up to
10
seconds.
Depending on your usage, you may or may not have noticed this problem.
I've been using comcast for 2 years, since about April I've noticed the
problem. After troubleshooting with winxp, linux, network monitoring
and
different netcard and firewire setups, I'm positive its not on my end.
