[NMLUG] speaking of Comcast... saturated upload kills connection
Can some of you comcast customers get Qwest DSL? I used to get 640K
down/240K up, until Qwest upgraded their standard DSL service to
1.5Mbps down and 896Kbps up for the same price = $28.00 plus
ISP charges. I go with SWCP for my ISP. SWCP is a little pricier
but worth it to me. Of course, DSL is "dedicated" in that you're
theoretically not sharing bandwidth with your neighborhood.
And Qwest DSL has far fewer usage restrictions than the ComCast
user agreements impose, i.e. no restrictions on running servers, etc.
Even though the 1.5Mbps is half the theoretical max download offered
by ComCast, the 896K upload is about 4 times faster than ComCast and
both the 1.5M down and 896K up are actually consistently acheived.
