[NMLUG] Re: "Mail Delivery System"
MyDoom and various Mimail variants forge mail headers - so it can (and
does) make it's payload appear to come from anywhere it likes. Most
modern mail/av solutions (such as Amavis+Postfix+Clamav) have
configuration paramters telling them which viruses do this - because
it's a total waste of time to send warnings to a forged Reply To: or
other usually useful header.
