[NMLUG] Printer setup
Just to follow up with the solution, I got my HP720c printer working.
I removed and reinstalled
cupsys, cupsys-bsd, cupsys-client, and cupsys-driver-gimpprint. I did
not think cupsys-driver-gimpprint was needed and installing it did not
help so I removed it.
After lots more reasearch I installed cupsomatic-ppd.
The following extra packages were installed:
foomatic-db foomatic-db-engine foomatic-filters foomatic-filters-ppds
I removed and reinstalled the printer to change the driver and now it works.
Somewhere along the line, etc/printcap was replaced with a new file
containing:
--------------
# This file was automatically generated by cupsd(8) from the
# /etc/cups/printers.conf file. All changes to this file
# will be lost.
Hp720c|:rm=comp008:rp=Hp720c:
--------------
I tried removing pnm2ppa to test if that was needed. It is needed.
