ghost can transfer one partition onto another of equal or larger size during a
mirroring operation. by 'above the filesystem' i meant that tar-ing and
gzip-ing the set of files on the partition, as opposed to wholesale duplication
of the partition, can present obstacles. that's all. i've used ghost to move
win2k before, and it seems to work.
