It depends on what you run in it. Let's put it this way: say you're 
running Windows XP; it's minimum requirements on a normal computer is 
what? I think it's 512MB. Now you are going to put it in a virtual 
machine...

Anyway, I don't know where exactly things break down, but I run it 
regularly on a computer with dual PIV-Xeon w/ 2G RAM and it runs fine 
even with tons of CAE tools. I've also run it on a computer with only a 
PII-450 and 128M RAM and it ran fine until you loaded up something that 
took a lot of memory; even then it ran pretty well once it finished 
thrashing. I've also run it on a computer with a dual PIII-750 and 384M 
and it ran everything I could think of just fine, including some 
interactive 3D graphical applications. Never tried any CAE stuff on 
that machine. (No matter how much RAM or processor power you have, 
you're not going to get 3D acceleration, though. =)
