To others... Just because syslogd is running.... does that mean
its working?

Frankly, I don't know. I've done it for Solaris and AIX, but not
LINUX. Having done it before, I could probobally find out how
on the WWW. Keywords -- Linux, kernel panic, crash dump.
I'm sure somebody, someplace has a nice tutorial about
how to look at a dump, and at least get a system stack trace.
Perhaps through adb (assembly debugger) run against the kernel
and the system core dump.

well.... that looks bad for linux.
If there is nothing of great importance on the LINUX
partitions.... perhaps you could see if FreeBSD installs
