[NMLUG] expect

I would like to write a script that
telnets (or tips) into my router, and reports
line quality every 10 minutes or so.
I guess the easiest way to do this would be
with expect. If so, does anybody have
something that does a similar function
I can copy from?
What other tools might you use for this?
does perl have an apporpriate library to help?
